When Prophet Ibrahim (May peace be upon him) was thrown into the fire pit he said the same dua, Allah alone is sufficient as an aid for us and He is the best Protector. When hypocrites said Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) that a huge army of enemies is approaching him so fear them, Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) replied Hasbunallahu Wa Nimal Wakeel.

If you really love Allah then you will be tested for sure and there is no escape to it. Dear believers if you fear Allah the most gracious, the most merciful then Allah will definitely make you self-sufficient. You won’t be in any need of the people.

A believer a Mu’min never gives up his hope, it is not in the dictionary of Mu’min, a believer. When a believer is in fear, distress, difficulty, problem, stress, or even anxiety he says –

Allah is Sufficient for me for us, and he is the best disposer of our affairs.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

‘Allah is Sufficient for us and He Is the Best Disposer of affairs,” was said by Abraham when he was thrown into the fire; and it was said by Muhammad when they (i.e. hypocrites) said, “A great army is gathering against you, therefore, fear them,” but it only increased their faith and they said: “Allah is Sufficient for us, and He is the Best Disposer (of affairs, for us).” (3.173)

Sahih al-Bukhari 4563

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

The last statement of Abraham when he was thrown into the fire was:–“Allah is Sufficient for us and He is the Best Disposer (of affairs for us).” (3.173)

This extended version of the Dua has been made by combining the two verses of the holy Qur’an.

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ نِعْمَ ٱلْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَ ٱلنَّصِيرُ

Imam Malik Rehmahullah actually had a ring on which he had Hasbunallahu Wa Ni’mal Wakeel Dua inscribed on it. People asked him why he chose out of all the verses in Qur’an only this Dua?

He replied because immediately after that verse Allah has said

فَٱنقَلَبُوا۟ بِنِعْمَةٍۢ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَضْلٍۢ لَّمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوٓءٌۭ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ رِضْوَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ

– Qur’an 3:174

So they returned with Allah’s favours and grace, suffering no harm. For they sought to please Allah. And surely Allah is the Lord of infinite bounty.
